Coping with the loss of a loved one is one of life’s great difficulties.

To support those experiencing this challenge, Hospice of Hilo will sponsor The Journey of Grief, a series of workshops from 5:30 to 7 p.m. on the next three Wednesdays.

This week, community bereavement counselor Cathy Hough will present Understanding Grief, a workshop “designed to help individuals gain a better understanding of how grief affects us and those around us.

On Jan. 18, children’s bereavement counselor Fujio Sato will lead a session on Helping Children Grieve.

“It’s a great opportunity to learn about how children experience loss and grief and what adults can do to help them,” said Sato.

On Jan. 25, see “Gift of Griefâ” a film by Nancee Sobonya.

“The inspiring film shares the experience of seven ordinary people who have experienced remarkable losses, yet found ways to transform their grief into greater understanding and fulfillment of life,” said Hough.
